The Curator of photography wanted to have the feature photograph suspended in such a way as to easily see the entire article from both sides. This allowed the viewer to examine the important documentation found on the back. The feature photograph is encapsulated and floats within a safely sealed clear frame held together with safety screws. The 2" wide channel frame is securely bolted into a cross connected track light device and gives ridged beam suspension.
You can clearly see the safety screws.
Notice the channel frame connected to the track light beam support. If desired another track light can easily be installed directly above the feature.
This case was originally designed to house the Norman Bel Geddes Ocean Liner upon its arrival at the Harry Ransom Center's Norman Bel Geddes Designs America exhibit 2012. I designed this gallery furniture to match and coordinate with the rest of the permanent gallery furniture in color and feel. Intended to be reused in other exhibits.
Used again 2013 in the Lakes were Rivers exhibit.
This case has been in continual use since 2012. Different interior accessories have been created, like this padded fabric tilt display for the Frank Reaugh exhibit 2015.
I have designed and fabricated many of these print file bins, some with attachable drafting table surfaces that slide out away from the front of the drawers and tilt. This makes the surface useable, not just a storage pile-up zone like most of them become. I have no photographs of this attachment. These drawers need regular waxing so they pull easily. This is my design and fabrication.
Because of the delicate nature of the Greenwich Village Bookshop Door it had to be gently moved into the enclosure. I designed a specially padded tray base that could easily slide between two 1/2" plex walls held together by standoff and base supports as the display housing. This display enclosure can readily be used again to display similar objects.

The Brushy Creek Professional Center in Round Rock, Texas was my last and most favorite building project. I was a master builder who managed the entire construction process and worked in every trade. My brother was the architect and I worked on the interior structural design aspects of this beautiful medical facility. I poured my heart and soul into these kinds of buildings for many enjoyable years. This building is the DELL Computer company dental facility under Rose Dental Management.
This dress form modification was needed as a permanent installation for the "Gone with the Wind" wedding dress. The dress was too small and required the shoulders to be dropped. My solution was to remove a pie shape leaving a connection at the neck. This achieved both the shoulder drop and the smaller size needed for the dress. I maintain a clean fabrication so the form does not look altered.

I like a very clean look when computers are used. Keeping the cables and CPU organized is key. Fabrication of simple cradles attached underneath the tables hides cables and protects the CPU.
Easily constructed foam core scale model of the Harry Ransom Gallery. A 3-D tool gives an overall visual understanding of spacial relationship.
I fabricated this tool so that two different Curators can be laying out their initial design ideas within the gallery space. This gives an immediate visual reference for their ideas and they can take a digital photograph to transfer the plan to the 3-D model when it becomes available for use. All movable furniture that is used on a regular basis is represented in magnet form and is made to scale.
This piece needed a unique base designed and fabricated. I like to study the object and design appropriately for the client and the piece.
Matching the density and uniqueness of the sculpture, this base creates a pleasurable combination.

This piece was not fully realized to completion. I enjoyed creating a new look for the base of this sculpture to give it that special touch that brings the work to a new level of elegance. Before shot.

Fabricating cradles is a unique challenge. This rare Medieval book required special support for the book and the delicate clasp. The support is removable for easy storage.
Fabricating a 45 degree cradle must begin with a template. Cutting the plex for these types of cradles is not an easy task and requires specific tools. When heating and bending the plex I am extremely aware of my desired outcome: a well polished clean look and attention to details including specific characteristics of the book.
The David Crockett Painting resides at the Governor's Mansion in Austin Texas. The Painting belongs to the Harry Ransom Center and is on long term loan. It was requested by the Governor to add a picture light to the frame. This was a simple adjustment to accommodate the transformer, and the outlet was located behind the Painting.
